My Story
I'm Kenny — a qualified personal trainer and health coach in my early 30s, born and raised in the UK with West African heritage: Ghanaian dad, Gambian mum. Food was everything in our household. My mum feeds people as a love language, and I grew up a foodie — jollof, plantains, traditional stews, all of it. But I also always struggled with weight gain, even as an athlete playing football and athletics.
I tried everything — veganism, plant-based, keto, low-carb. I'd lose the weight, then gain it back. It wasn't until I discovered insulin resistance that it clicked: this was never about willpower, it was about understanding how my body processes food. And what frustrated me most was that there was no information built for people like me — people who wanted to keep their cultural foods and still be metabolically healthy, not just told to cut carbs and eat like the West.
So I bridged that gap myself — digging into the science of insulin resistance and back into my own culture, and realised our ancestors had it right. Palm oil isn't the enemy. Rice isn't the enemy. Jollof isn't the enemy. It's how much and when you eat that matters. Five years and 100+ clients later, The Kingdom Stewardship Blueprint is built on that same principle: you can honour your heritage and be metabolically thriving.
